Central Processing Unit
What is it? - A central processing unit, or CPU, is like the grey matter of the brain, for the computer. Everything you do while on the computer, has to go through the CPU in order for it to have an effect, for example, you press the 'S' key while you have selected the space on a blank word document, the CPU is what makes the 'S' show up. It carries out the instructions of a computer program, doing what it does in order to make things happen on the computer depending on what you are using on the computer, and what you have done physically in order to make something happen.
What makes a CPU good?
Transistors are tiny switches that can either allow electricity to flow through them, or not allow electricity to flow through them. The transistors are the things that make the calculations, the more transistors there are, the more calculations can be done at any given time. The more calculations that can be done, the faster the computer does things/ runs.
Caches
CPU Caches help the CPU to do stuff faster. A CPU cache is a little sort of grouping of memory that stores information the CPU is most likely to use next. - SUPERFAST MEMORY _ FASTER THAN RAM
